Travel Health & Vaccinations

Health requirements vary by destination and can change with little notice.

We help you identify what applies to your trip and prepare accordingly.

Why Health Preparation Matters

  • Some countries require proof of vaccination for entry.
  • Some require it only if you are travelling from or through certain countries.
  • Requirements can differ for business, leisure, and transit travel.
  • Missing a requirement can result in denied boarding or denied entry.
  • Requirements can also apply on departure from Nigeria, not only on arrival at your destination.

Travelling From Nigeria

Two sets of requirements can apply on an outbound trip: your destination country's entry rules, and Nigeria's own departure requirements.

Destination requirements are specific to each country and can change. See Before You Travel for the checklist for your route.

Nigeria's own departure requirements are set by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). See Official Sources & Verification below to confirm the current position before you travel.

Travelling To Nigeria

Inbound travellers are required to complete Nigeria's mandatory health declaration before boarding, via the NCDC Health Declaration Portal.

Full inbound guidance, including passport, visa, and health documentation, is covered on the Travelling to Nigeria page.

What We Help With

  • Confirming which vaccinations or health documents apply to your itinerary, in either direction.
  • Guidance on Yellow Fever Certificate requirements where applicable.
  • Pointing you to accredited vaccination and travel clinics.
  • Flagging health documentation as part of your overall trip preparation.
Official Sources & Verification

Requirements referenced on this page are not stated as fixed facts, since they can change without notice. Always verify directly with the sources below, or with your consultant, before travel.

Yellow fever requirements

Public guidance on yellow fever certification has not always been expressed consistently across the relevant sources. Travellers should therefore confirm the current requirement for their itinerary directly with the official sources above at the time of booking and again before travel, and carry the relevant certificate where required.

  • NCDC Health Declaration Portal — start here for both directions of travel; it reflects Nigeria's current position and is mandatory for inbound travellers: healthapp.ncdc.gov.ng
  • Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) — yellow fever advisory: ncdc.gov.ng
  • Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (Nigeria) — official traveller FAQs, including yellow fever and port health screening: health.gov.ng/faqs
  • World Health Organization (WHO) — International Travel and Health guidance, including International Health Regulations (2005) provisions on vaccination certificates: who.int
  • NaTHNaC (National Travel Health Network and Centre, UK) — independent clinical travel health advisory referencing Nigeria-specific updates, for dosing, timing, and exemption questions: travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries/nigeria
